Alluvium Panel

Our very own Birkbeck open access journal, Alluvium, will be celebrating its 2nd birthday with a panel discussion as part of Birkbeck's Arts Week 2014 programme. Launched in June 2012 by Dr Caroline Edwards (Birkbeck) and Dr Martin Paul Eve (Lincoln), the journal has gone from strength to strength and its growing readership is spread across the globe. The journal has received praise from senior figures in literary scholarship, being called "a striking new presence on the critical scene" which features "some of the liveliest new voices in contemporary criticism." It has also been commended for "playing a role extending the geography of serious academic publishing.” To celebrate its upcoming 2nd birthday, Alluvium editors and contributors will be hosting a special panel discussion (accompanied by drinks and birthday cake) on contemporary literary scholarship and digital, open-access publishing as part of Birkbeck's Arts Week 2014 programme. The session is titled "The Way We Read Now" and will take place on Tuesday 20th May 2014, from 7.40pm in The Peltz Gallery at 43 Gordon Square, London WC1H 0PD (see here for directions and a map of the venue). The panel will consist of Dr Caroline Edwards (Lecturer in Modern & Contemporary Literature, Birkbeck), Dr Michael James Collins (Lecturer in American Literature, University of Kent), Dr Bianca Leggett (Visiting Lecturer, Birkbeck), Dr Martin Eve (Lecturer in English, University of Lincoln), Dr Zara Dinnen (Lecturer in Modern & Contemporary Literature, University of Birmingham) and Dr Daniel O'Gorman (Visiting Lecturer, Royal Holloway). The panellists are editors and contributors to the critically-acclaimed journal of 21st-century literary criticism, Alluvium, which will be celebrating its 2nd birthday.
